How to prepare for Business Communication for CSEET Exam?

The profession of a Company Secretary provides a universal opportunity to become an active secretary of the organization. The Institute of Companies Secretary of India(ICSI) has developed a curriculum of 3 stages. CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) is the gateway to enter the course. With the introduction of CSEET, one should know how to prepare, to get good points. Within this article, we have highlighted some points, to help the candidates to prepare for the CSEET Paper 1- Business Communication.

1. Understanding the Syllabus, Paper Pattern, etc- For any entrance test, candidates must be familiar with its syllabus in detail, paper pattern, exam pattern, total no. of questions, etc. We have provided all the details regarding this paper-

  1. Total marks- 50 Marks
  2. Total no of questions- 35
  3. No negative marking
  4. To pass this paper, candidates should score 40% marks in this paper.
  5. Expectations from candidates unit wise - It is expected from the candidates to be familiar with the basic concepts of English grammar and its use. The Communication unit emphasizes the importance of communication in an organization, which means different ways and means communication within the organization and related obstacles. Business Communication is essential in the day-to-day operations of an organization in this paper, also includes a variety of internal and external communication with ideas such as Management Information systems, email, etc. Candidates should also be aware of the various names used in business in the day-to-day running of the organization.
  6. Business Communication consists of four sections. The purpose of the paper is to examine the candidate's knowledge of English grammar essentials and critical aspects of Business Communication. For a detailed syllabus, please refer to the table below-

2. Study timetable- To pass any entry exam, we must have an appropriate learning schedule. In this regard, it is suggested that you need to spend more time on the CSEET Papers. When preparing a study schedule, please make sure that all the sections of this paper are given the weightage as per your need but, it should not happen that in a specific Section you spend a lot of time while another a little time, therefore, affects your results.

3. Study material- Aspirants are advised to focus on Reference Reading Material provided by the Institute. However, the candidate may refer to other books/materials but, preference must be given to the Institute's study materials.

4. Complete Reading- For full preparation, it is recommended for the candidates to read everything whether it's topic or subheadings none should be left. A study by choice is not the correct thing as the goal is to score decent marks. Moreover, a comprehensive study will develop a better understanding and, hence chances of getting a high score or rank can increase.

5. Mock Tests are Performance Booster- To improve the performance in the paper, candidates must go for Mock Test regularly. Also, candidates can know their level of preparation, and they will be familiar with the type/pattern of questions asked from each section of the paper.

6. Believe in yourself! Maintain your self-confidence- The main point while preparation is self-belief that you can do it. Overconfidence may bring you down, and underconfidence will drown you. So, maintain the optimum level of confidence!
